
Steve Hannant
Podiatrist / Director
Stephen qualified in 1998 from the University of Central England in Birmingham with a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry. He is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and is a member of the Royal College of Podiatry.
Stephen holds additional qualifications in local anaesthesia, podiatric acupuncture, and corticosteroid injection therapy, enabling him to provide a wide range of advanced clinical treatments.
He worked within the NHS continuously from 1998 until April 2026, most recently as an Advanced Podiatrist within the Orthopaedic Biomechanics Team at the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Over this time, he developed extensive expertise in biomechanics and sports injury management, with a strong focus on improving mobility, function, and long-term outcomes for patients.
Alongside his NHS career, Stephen co-founded Bay Podiatry in 2016, where he now works full-time following his departure from the NHS in April 2026.

Rob Stringer
Podiatrist / Director
Robert is an experienced and highly qualified podiatrist with over 20 years of clinical experience in diagnosing and managing foot and ankle conditions. He graduated from the University of Huddersfield in 2002 with a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. He is also a member of the Royal College of Podiatry.
Robert worked within the NHS continuously from graduation in 2002 until April 2026, most recently as an Advanced Podiatrist in the Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Team at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. During this time, he gained extensive experience across a wide range of routine and complex musculoskeletal, dermatological, and surgical foot conditions. His clinical interests included verruca treatment, nail surgery, and foot pain management, with a consistent focus on helping patients remain active, comfortable, and mobile.
Alongside his NHS career, Robert developed a private practice at Bay Podiatry, where he now works full-time following his departure from the NHS in April 2026.
He holds additional qualifications in local anaesthesia, prescription-only medicines, podiatric acupuncture, and corticosteroid injection therapy. He also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in the Theory of Podiatric Surgery and a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Ultrasound, enabling him to provide advanced diagnostic and treatment options for a wide range of foot and ankle conditions.
Robert is also actively involved in clinical research and serves as Principal Investigator for a multi-centre trial investigating the use of foot orthoses in the management of big toe arthritis (hallux rigidus). His research involvement ensures his clinical practice remains aligned with the latest evidence-based care.

Jo Costello
Associate Podiatrist
Jo is a fully qualified podiatrist who graduated from New College Durham with a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry. She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and is a member of the Royal College of Podiatry.
In addition to her podiatry qualification, Jo holds certificates in local anaesthesia and Prescription Only Medicines, allowing her to provide a wide range of treatments safely and effectively.
Before qualifying as a podiatrist, Jo worked as a sports massage therapist for over 15 years, giving her a deep understanding of musculoskeletal problems, injury prevention, and rehabilitation. She has particular clinical interests in lower limb biomechanics, dermatology, and nail surgery, and is passionate about helping patients stay active, comfortable, and pain-free.

Bekki Weightman
Associate Podiatrist
Bekki qualified from the University of Salford in 2003 with a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry. She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and is a member of the Royal College of Podiatry. Bekki also holds a certificate in local anaesthesia.
Bekki has worked as an associate podiatrist for Bay Podiatry since 2020, alongside her NHS role within the Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Team at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, where she provides specialist care for a wide range of foot and lower limb conditions.
She has extensive experience in musculoskeletal (MSK) podiatry, wound care, routine and complex foot care, and nail surgery procedures. Her clinical background includes work across NHS trusts in London and the North West, as well as eight years in private practice within the Greater Manchester area before relocating to the North East.
Bekki provides evidence-based podiatry treatment for conditions including heel pain, plantar fasciitis, ingrown toenails, verrucae, diabetic foot concerns, arthritis-related foot pain, and mobility issues. She is committed to improving comfort, mobility, and long-term foot health through tailored treatment and compassionate care.
Amanda Woodley
Associate Podiatrist
Amanda qualified in 2013 from New College Durham with a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry. She holds certificates in local anaesthetic and prescription only medicine (POMs), enabling her to provide a wide range of advanced podiatry treatments. Amanda is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and a member of the Royal College of Podiatry.
Amanda works as an associate podiatrist for Bay Podiatry alongside her role as a Specialist Podiatrist with Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, where she has worked for over 13 years. She has a particular clinical interest in wound care and has extensive experience managing complex foot health conditions within both NHS and private practice settings.
Before qualifying as a podiatrist, Amanda spent several years working as a holistic therapist with a focus on reflexology and massage therapy. This background supports her holistic, patient-centred approach to care, with a strong focus on comfort, wellbeing, and long-term foot health.
Amanda provides evidence-based podiatry treatment for a wide range of conditions including diabetic foot concerns, wound management, ingrown toenails, verrucae, painful skin and nail conditions, and mobility-related foot pain. She is committed to delivering professional, compassionate care tailored to each patient’s individual needs.
Miriam Teasdale
Associate Podiatrist
Miriam qualified in 2020 from New College Durham with a BSc (Hons) degree in Podiatry. She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and is a member of the Royal College of Podiatry.
Miriam has completed significant additional postgraduate training, including an MSc degree in the Theory of Podiatric Surgery. She holds certificates in prescription only medicines (POMs), local anaesthesia, and corticosteroid injection therapy. She is trained in performing advanced local anaesthetic techniques using both landmark and ultrasound-guided approaches.
Miriam has worked as an associate podiatrist for Bay Podiatry since 2023. She began her NHS career in June 2020 with Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, gaining extensive experience in routine podiatry treatment, nail surgery, and the management of dermatological and musculoskeletal foot conditions. In January 2022, Miriam began working as an Advanced Podiatrist within the local NHS podiatric surgery team.
Miriam has particular clinical interests in nail surgery and musculoskeletal (MSK) podiatry. She provides evidence-based assessment and treatment for a wide range of foot and lower limb conditions, including ingrown toenails, heel pain, plantar fasciitis, verrucae, painful foot conditions, and mobility-related issues.
She is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred podiatry care focused on improving comfort, mobility, and long-term foot health.
