Steve Hannant

Podiatrist / Director

Stephen qualified in 1998 from the University of Central England in Birmingham with a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry. He is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council and is a member of the Royal College of Podiatry.


Stephen holds certificates in local anaesthesia, podiatric acupuncture and cortico-steroid injection therapy. 


As well as working at Bay Podiatry, Stephen also works for Northumbria NHS Foundation Trust as an advanced podiatrist in the orthopaedic biomechanics team. Stephen has vast experience in biomechanics and sports injuries.


Rob Stringer

Podiatrist / Director

Robert is an experienced and highly qualified podiatrist with over 20 years of clinical experience helping people with foot and ankle problems. He graduated from the University of Huddersfield in 2002 with a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a member of the Royal College of Podiatry.


Robert holds additional qualifications in local anaesthesia, Prescription Only Medicines, podiatric acupuncture and corticosteroid injection therapy. He has also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in the Theory of Podiatric Surgery and a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Ultrasound, enabling him to offer advanced diagnostic and treatment options for a wide range of foot conditions.


Alongside his work at Bay Podiatry, Robert is employed by the Northumbria NHS Foundation Trust as an Advanced Podiatrist within the Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Team. He has a special interest in verruca treatments, nail surgery, and foot pain management, and is passionate about helping patients stay active, comfortable, and confident on their feet.


Robert is also active in clinical research and is currently the Principal Investigator for a multi-centre trial investigating the use of foot orthoses in the management of big toe arthritis (hallux rigidus). His involvement in research ensures that his clinical practice is always informed by the latest evidence and best practice.

Alison Traill

Associate Podiatrist

Alison qualified in 1997 from New College Durham with a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry. She is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council and is a member of the Royal College of Podiatry.


Alison holds certificates in local anaesthesia, Prescription Only Medicines and cortico-steroid injection therapy. 


As well as working at Bay Podiatry Alison also works for Northumbria NHS Foundation Trust as a specialist podiatrist.


Alison has a particular interest in nail surgery and the foot in diabetes.

Bekki Weightman

Associate Podiatrist

Bekki qualified in 2003 from University of Salford with BSc (Hons) in Podiatry. She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and is a member of the Royal College of Podiatry.


Bekki holds a certificate in local anaesthesia.


Bekki has previously worked at NHS trusts in London and in the North West. She has recently left a private clinic in the Greater Manchester area where she worked for 8 years, and has relocated to the North East. 


Jo Costello

Associate Podiatrist

Jo is a fully qualified podiatrist who graduated from New College Durham with a BSc (Hons) in Podiatry. She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and is a member of the Royal College of Podiatry.


In addition to her podiatry qualification, Jo holds certificates in local anaesthesia and Prescription Only Medicines, allowing her to provide a wide range of treatments safely and effectively.


Before qualifying as a podiatrist, Jo worked as a sports massage therapist for over 15 years, giving her a deep understanding of musculoskeletal problems, injury prevention, and rehabilitation. She has particular clinical interests in lower limb biomechanics, dermatology, and nail surgery, and is passionate about helping patients stay active, comfortable, and pain-free.
